THE FUTURE FOR CANBODIAN CHILDREN
CENTRE OF EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF ARTS (CEDA)

1- Information from CEDA-FCC
1-To construct a new building for more efficient work
Six voluntary staff is implementing the project, namely a coordinator,a project coordinator,an administrator,a sculptor and two teachers. We plan to select four more teachers to assist in implementing the project activities. This project has been stable for three years, completely devoted to the blossoming of the children through their discovery of arts and their improving of knowledge.
Up to date CEDA−FCC proposed six different courses to children:shadow theatre, music, drawing, sculpture,English and Japanese,in a building including only two classrooms.
Music and shadow theatre courses are exceptional in the classrooms. We use the space in the house office for these courses, that why it become necessary to enlarge the school.
CEDA-FCC needs a building with two more classrooms,Which will build early next year in order to make a more efficient work.

2−Collaboration with NGOs

180 students(age from9−17years)from 15 vi11ages in Prasat Bakong District are attending CEDA−FCC’s school. The children can choose Which topic they want to study. The number of children are attending the courses have a little variation from one month to the other. In July,August and September, the children are on holidays and some of them request to help the parents in their work. But the frequency is still higher than the other 9months:January,February,March,Apri1,May,June,October,November and December.
In order to assure a regular frequency of the classes,CEDA−FCC collaborates with a French NGO,Pour un  Sourire  D’Enfant (For a Smile of a child),Which has sent the children to attend a half-day courses.

3−How important the shadow theatre is
The project is working to revive and promote the traditional art of shadow theatre,in the area of Siem Reap Province where it was disappearing from the communities, and support the poorer sector of Cambodian society specifically for the children who are easily to get victim.
The shadow theatre is a unique tool of entertainment and education that can travel directly to the people and meet them at the vi11age level.
Educational messages are transmitted such as:human rights,Commune council, weapon reduction, domestic violence,HIV/AIDS education and prevention, public health, besides the traditional story,1n order to give confidence in their culture and peace to these children and the member of the community seeing performance.

The group wishes to use shadow theatre to give messages to the people of Siem Reap town and districts to improve knowledge of them. For these purpose CEDA-FCC collaborates with Concern World Wide,WGWR,ADHOC,and LICADHO,in Siem Reap to develop scripts to educate the people on the problem above. These groups assisted with advice and supply documents, which relate to the scripts.
